PEER COUNSELOR TRAINING

Mill Works Plaza, Quincy, CA


This is the Office of Emergency Services Certified training and is an
important part of the process of becoming certified as a domestic
violence counselor, a crisis line counselor and a sexual assault
counselor. This is free and offered by Plumas Rural Services, Domestic
Violence Services and Plumas Crisis Intervention & Resource Center's
Rape Crisis Center and the Plumas/Sierra Crisis Line.

Aspects of the training will be augmented by other agencies and county
services.

Topics include but not limited to: peer conseling technigues, posttraumatic
stress disorder, teen relationships, crisis intervention, suicide
intervention, psychology of the victim, impact of abuse on
children, restraining and protective orders, custody issues, legal issues,
law enforcement involvement, the Court system, community resources,
and cultural competency and diversity.
