Emergency Services

Emergency Shelter, is provided through agreements with motels throughout the county.

Rent & Utility Assistance, to prevent homelessness. Clients must have an income; rent cannot exceed 80% of their income. Help is limited to 1st months rent or one month's past due rent. The REACH & CARE utility assistance program, through PG&E & Salvation Army, assist senior citizens, the chronically ill, and the working poor. (A shut-off notice must have been received in order to apply.)

Food Bank Vouchers, PCI Resource Center is the umbrella agency for the Community Assistance Network (CAN) in Quincy, Eastern Plumas Community Assistance Network (EPCAN) in Portola, and Indian Valley Food Bank in Greenville.

Monthly Commodity Food Items, are distributed in Quincy on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at the CAN building from 10-10:30.   In Portola please check with EPCAN for distribution dates. They can be reached at 832-4570. Chester is the 4th Friday of the month at the ABC Center from 11-4.  Greenville is the 4th Thursday of the month at the Food Bank, Indian Valley Record Bldg. from 9-9:30.
