Parenting Classes

Family Development Workshops will help you understand your relationship with yourself and with your child. We will integrate values and beliefs that you hold as parents and how these have worked for you and how to pass them on to your children. We will work on building a caring and communicative family with healthy boundaries. We will encourage play, fun and creativity. There will be a strong focus on communication skills, healthy discipline and family meetings.

Core Values that will be covered in these sessions:

  • Building self-esteem, including, but not limited to, parents' building a positive parental identity and building the self-esteem of their children.
  • Handling stress and anger.
  • The growth and development of children, including, but not limited to, safety, nutrition, and health.
  • Developing and increasing communication skills in order that a parent may learn to listen to and speak with his or her child or children.
  • Learning to use positive disciplinary mechanisms as alternatives to the physical punishment of a child, including, but not limited to learning what constitutes abuse and neglect.
  • Learning positive boundaries that keep children safe and healthy.
