The S.A.F.E. program offers services as the Rape Crisis Center for Plumas County. Volunteers staff the Crisis Line twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Staff and volunteers receive specialized training which includes rape crisis intervention, peer counseling for sexual assault, and support for victims of sexual assault. This includes adults molested as children. Services provided through the SAFE program staff:
Peer support counseling for the victim and the significant other(s) of the victim.
Advocacy for the victim with the other agencies.
Accompaniment to medical exams.
Accompaniment to court appearances.
Women's support group.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH
Staff members provide sexual assault prevention education in Plumas County. Currently, presentations are being offered in the schools. Information and presentations are available to local businesses, organizations and private groups. These services are free. Some of the Topics covered:
